JustLove Potluck

A Table where justice begins

Some of the most important movements in history began around a meal. People gathered, shared food, and found each other — and from that finding, something grew.

The JustLove Potluck is a grassroots gathering model born out of a simple conviction: that justice work requires community, and community requires showing up, face-to-face, around a shared table.

What started as one gathering at Azure Hills Church in Southern California — people bringing food, sharing stories, and naming what they see breaking in the world around them — is becoming something more. It is becoming a network.

At the JustLove Potluck, there is no polished program. There is food, honest conversation, and the question that drives everything JLC does:

Who is being unseen and unheard — and what can we do about it?

These are some of the concerns our communities are bringing to the table:

  • The crisis facing undocumented people amid cuts to healthcare

  • Systemic racism and the everyday harm of microaggressions

  • Loss of meaning and moral injury in an exhausting cultural moment

  • Spiritual disconnection — the pain of attending churches that are not addressing the issues impacting our communities

If you have felt this too, you are not alone. And there is a seat at the table for you.

When and where?

Meets quarterly at Azure Hills Church in Grand Terrace, California. Our next gathering is August 22.

More Chapters on the way

Start a chapter

You don’t need a stage or a platform. You need a space, a meal, and the willingness to ask honest questions together.

The JustLove Potluck Chapter model is designed for communities like yours — faith-rooted, justice-oriented people who want to move from concern to connection to action. Whether you gather in a church fellowship hall, a backyard, or a community center, the potluck model is simple, warm, and low-barrier by design.

What a Chapter Is

A JustLove Potluck Chapter is an officially recognized local expression of JustLove Collective. Chapters meet at least four times a year, centered on a shared meal and grounded in JLC’s mission of faith-rooted justice. Each chapter is its own community — shaped by its people, its region, and its concerns — and part of a growing international network.

What JLC Provides

Chapter hosts are not resourced and released. They are genuinely supported. When you launch a JustLove Potluck Chapter, JLC provides:

  • Seasonal Content Packets — a podcast discussion guide, justice brief, and action menu before each gathering cycle

  • A private host network — connection with chapter hosts across regions who share the vision

  • Annual Host Huddles — a virtual gathering with JLC leadership to share stories and align on the season ahead

  • Access to JLC’s speaker and scholar network — people willing to join your gathering virtually or in person

  • Priority access to Book Circles, the JustLove Summit, and #ResistanceCall Gatherings

  • Your chapter listed on the JLC website so people in your area can find you

  • Reporting on your Potluck through JLC media outlets — whether through Pulse digital magazine or JustLove Notes or other social media platforms, your good work will be broadcast and future attendance encouraged

  • Branded materials to help your community connect with the wider JLC family

What We Ask of You

Host at least four gatherings a year. Keep the space inclusive and consistent with JLC’s values. Complete a brief post-gathering report so we can learn and support chapters well. Show up to at least one annual Host Huddle. And represent JLC with care and integrity.

That’s it. The rest is yours to shape.
